There are many ways to be part of the Raynor Christian Academy family and change children's lives.

Sponsorship Programs

Your sponsorship directly supports a child's education, meals, uniforms, and future. You are not simply paying school fees — you are preserving a future.

Why We Need Your Support

Education is the most powerful tool for breaking generational poverty. Yet in Malawi, and particularly in Mwanza District, thousands of children are slipping through the cracks of the education system every year.

National Picture

While Malawi has made significant progress in increasing school enrolment, access does not guarantee completion or quality learning.

  • 5.4 million children enrolled in primary school
  • 227,000+ children drop out every year
  • Only 45% complete primary school
  • Only 19% demonstrate foundational literacy
  • Only 13% demonstrate foundational numeracy
  • Nearly 70% of the population lives below the poverty line

Mwanza District

Mwanza District is a predominantly rural border district with high poverty levels. The challenges here are even more acute.

  • Approx. 21,000 primary-school-age children
  • Around 3,200 children out of school
  • 750–900 primary school dropouts annually
  • 7,300 preschool-age children not accessing ECD
  • Only 12–13% strong passes in PSLCE examinations

Behind these numbers are real children — children with potential, intelligence, and dreams — whose only barrier is access to quality education.

Why Sponsorship Matters

Most school dropouts are not caused by lack of ability. They are caused by:

  • Poverty and inability to afford even modest school costs
  • Long walking distances
  • Child labour and household responsibilities
  • Early marriage and teenage pregnancy
  • Weak early learning foundations

When a child drops out of school, their likelihood of remaining trapped in poverty increases significantly. Education is the exit from poverty.

What Your Partnership Can Do

Imagine a child in Mwanza who would otherwise drop out in Standard 4 because her family cannot afford school costs. Now imagine that child:

  • Completing Standard 8
  • Passing the PSLCE
  • Transitioning to secondary school
  • Becoming a teacher, nurse, entrepreneur, or community leader
  • Breaking the cycle of poverty in her family line

This is not theory. It is transformation through access.
